Winter in Tyrol
Understandably, the ski season here is one of the longest in the whole of the Alps typically starting in the early autumn and extending well into mid-May. The region is made up of three separate ski areas – (Hochzeiger, Rifflsee and the Pitztaler Gletscher) totalling over 125kms of piste.
The area has been attracting a lot of interest over the last few years as work has now begun on the long-awaited ‘Projekt Sicherheiweg’ which will link the Pitztaler Gletscher ski region across to world-famous Solden, thus creating the largest glacial ski region in the whole of the Alps!
Watersports are available in the Badsee and there is also the popular Wasserwelten (Water World) in nearby Stillebach.
Summer in Tyrol
The Pitztal Valley is a popular summer destination also with glacier skiing and hundreds of kms of well-marked hiking and mountain biking trails. Fishing, white-water rafting, horse riding, paragliding are just some of the other activities on offer in this Alpine paradise.
